The Federal Ministry of Transportation has commenced the service- wide Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) solution, a digital work environment through conveyance of documents from papers, files to e-documents, and e-files
The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Jaji Sambo, speaking at the GO – LIVE of the Ministry in Abuja, stated that this marks the Ministry’s commitment towards achieving a paperless office system that can ensure handling of government affairs effectively and efficiently.
According to the Minister, such efforts are pathways to achieving national development. This is even as he commended the commitment and zeal of the Permanent Secretary and Management staff of the Ministry.
Speaking at the start-off, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, stated that the Ministry’s coming on-stream of the ECMS will be the first time since the Nigeran Civil Service was established 69 years ago, that an entire ministry of government will go paperless, noting that the new system has been in the works for months now.
“We’ve invested significant time, energy, and resources into ensuring that it’s the best possible solution for our Ministry. And we’ve done so with one goal in mind: to make our jobs easier”, the Permanent Secretary observed.
Speaking further, she admitted that going paperless may seem daunting but assured that modalities are in place to make the transition seamless
Recall that the ECMS is part of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 aimed at breaking away from the old to a new paradigm of productive, world-class civil service for accelerated national development through prioritizing and driving of staff welfare, supporting innovation amongst others.
