The monarch listed the projects to include the new Lagos – Abeokuta – Ibadan Standard Gauge rail line, aimed at saving man hours of travel and road delays.

Oba Gbadebo said if the projects are successfully completed, there would be substantial reduction in automobile accidents.  He also advocated that the railway lines to be quickly extended to Kano, while also pleading that the Port Harcourt Maiduguri narrow gauge line be speeded up and be connected to Maiduguri.

The Minister’s visit was meant to solicit the blessings of the paramount ruler in whose domain the NCT is taking place.

The Transportation Minister explained to the revered Monarch that the essence of the 18th National Council on Transportation meeting was to give opportunity to stakeholders of the transportation sector to brainstorm and come up with far-reaching recommendations on how to provide a safe, secure and comfortable transportation system.

“Kabiesi, it is the desire of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to provide succor to the people of this great country and we are ready to partner with the people of Ogun State, which is the gateway of our nation’s economy.  Therefore, this Council meeting means a lot to the economy of this nation”, he added.
