Mrs. Kafayat Olufunke Salami was born on 10th June, 1962 and hails from Obanikoro/Gaji family in Isale-Eko, Lagos Island local Government Area of Lagos State.  She attended Lagos Anglican Girls’ School, Lagos Anglican Girls’ Grammar School and Methodist Girls’ High School, Lagos for her Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education. She obtained B.A (Hons.) English from the University of Sokoto (now Uthman Dan Fodio University) in year, 1986 and started her working Career as a Personnel Officer II, Gl. 08 in the Federal Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development on 23rd December, 1988. She rose through ranks to become Director (Administration) in year, 2018. She served in the following Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs):-

i. Federal Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development; 23rd 1988 – 15 Feb. 1999;
ii. Nigeria Football Association from 15th 99 – 13th April 2003;
iii. Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports from 13/4/2003 to 12/10/2004;
iv. Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from 12/10/2004 to 18/10/2008;
v. Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation from 18/10/2008 to 07/12/2010;
vi. Federal Ministry of Education from 7/12/2010 to 18/10/2012;
vii. Cabinet Secretariat (OSGF) from 18/10/2012 to 30/05/2013;
viii. Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation from 30/5/2013 to 20/12/2019; and
ix. Federal Ministry of Transportation from 20/12/2019 till date.

Mrs. K.O. Salami was a member of the Team that prepared and produced the Draft Scheme of Service for Sports Cadre in the Federal Civil Service.  Also, on her Secondment to Nigeria Football Association in year 1999, she set up the Personnel Management Department to handle all Administrative matters and re-organization of the Registry Unit as directed by the then Minister of Sports,  Dr. Jim Nwobodo. Moreover, she was posted from the Cabinet Secretariat in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to assist in setting up the newly created Civil Service Transformation Department in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in the year, 2013. The Department had successfully coordinated the Annual Civil Service Day Celebration, the Peer Review Mechanism Exercise for Federal Permanent Secretaries and activities of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units (ACTUs) Service-Wide in conjunction with Independent Corrupt Practices and Other related offences Commission( ICPC) Mrs. K.O. Salami served as a Deputy Team leader of the Culture change Project Management Team for the 2017 – 2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP). She is presently the Director, Special Duties in the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
Mrs. K.O. Salami also served in various Ad-hoc Committees and attended Professional Enhancement Training Programme, Workshops and Seminars in Nigeria and Abroad. She was conferred with Presidential EPIC Merit Award for Excellence in year, 2019.
