JOS HOSTS 41ST EDITION OF FEPSGA

AS TEAM TRANSPORT ARRIVES WITH ITS CONTINGENT
ATHLETES IN GOOD FORM

The contingent of the Federal Ministry of Transportation has arrived Jos, the Plateau State capital for the 41st edition of Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA) holding 15th to 22nd December, 2022. 
The event which is an annual tournament organised by the Federal Government to boost the mental and physical wellness of staff for greater productivity in the civil service comprises of officers representing different Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government (MDAs).

Declaring the event open, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Simon Lalong noted that there is a correlation between healthy workforce and efficiency in Service delivery. The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner in charge of Youths and Sports in Plateau State, Hon. Dung Dalyop stated that the state has enjoyed relative peace in recent times and the hosting of the FEPSGA event is a testament that peace has returned to the state. Lalong also appreciated the partnership between the Federal Government and Plateau State, stressing that such collaboration can improve developmental strides in the country.

“Your coming will change the narrative that relative peace has returned to Plateau State. This is something we do not take for granted or deeds of faith that happened. The peace we are enjoying today in Plateau State is as a result of of painstaking and determined effort of committed people and focused leadership.
“So, today we are welcoming you to the state and further reminding you of the place of fitness in your lives. Whatever efficiency and effectiveness you want to see in the public service cannot be achieved without physical fitness of the civil servants” he concluded.

On her part, the Head of Service (HoS) of the Federation, Dr. Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esien said the FEPSGA which is an annual event is aimed at promoting the mental and physical well-being of civil servants of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, adding that a healthy and motivated workforce is critical to the implementation of the policies of the Federal Government.

“I welcome you to the 41st edition of the Federal Public Service Games, FEPSGA, an annual event that brings together officers from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies to participate in a week-long sporting activities aimed at encourage healthy living among civil servants”.

Mrs Yemi-Esien who was speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Nwediri, represented by the Deputy Director, Recreational Activities, Mrs Amidetu Oguntade, said the importance of the walking and jogging exercise play a key role in the productivity of staffers of the Federal Government to its administrations.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, in her goodwill message charged her staff to be well behaved and aspire to win silverwares for the ministry. 
Dr. Ajani who gave the charge through her Assistant Director, Welfare and Training FMoT, Mr. Bullem Andy said the physical and overall wellness of staff of Transportation will drive service delivery in the sector.

The General Manager of Sports, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Samson Ojon said he was impressed with the performance of FMoT athletes in the on-going FEPSGA exercise.
Ojon commended the commitment of all stakeholders and management for the support that made the 41st edition a success.
