NITT SIGNS MoU WITH CHINESE FIRM TO ADVANCE EV TECHNOLOGY AND TRAINING

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, has taken another significant step in strengthening global partnerships with key stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector by collaborating with Guangdong Zhongcai Education Equipment Company Limited, China — a leading manufacturer, renowned for research, production and sale of automotive teaching equipment.

The partnership aims to enhance research and development in electric vehicle (EV) technology, promote green and sustainable transport solutions, and improve access to specialised automotive training equipment and simulators, among other benefits.

The historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed today at NITT headquarters in Zaria, following the earlier signing by the Chinese partners in China.

The Director General/Chief Executive, NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, signed on behalf of the Institute, alongside the Registrar, Dr. Maina W. A. Tarfa.

Dr. Farah disclosed that the collaboration would significantly boost the Institute’s practical training capacity:
“Our training programmes rely heavily on laboratories and workshops. With this MoU, we will be able to gain access to some of the essential equipment needed to strengthen our training delivery,” he stated.

Dr. Farah further expressed optimism that the collaboration would enhance the Institute’s ability to train young Nigerians in various trades and skills, especially those enrolled in HND and ND programmes in Mechatronics, Welding and Fabrication, Highway Engineering and related fields.

Earlier, the Director of the Transport Technology Centre (TTC), Dr. Joshua Odeleye — who represented NITT during discussions in China — underscored the essence of the partnership.
